Description

Taille is a full length hall mirror 47cm wide by 180cm high, made as two mirrored panes set slightly apart, with a folded black metal shelf slotted into the step where they pass each other. The lower corner of the upper pane and the upper corner of the lower one are both rounded right off, so the join reads as a soft waist across the glass rather than as a straight seam. The shelf projects 15cm, which is enough for keys and a phone. The design is by Julia Dozsa.

It is made for a hall: full height for a last look on the way out, with somewhere to put things down built into the same piece. It arrives in parts and is assembled on the wall, which is how the shelf and the two panes come together. It hangs in one direction, since the shelf sits at a fixed height. It is rated bathroom proof. At 13.5kg one person can carry it, though the assembly goes more easily with two. The depth is 19cm at the shelf and almost nothing elsewhere, so measure a corridor against the shelf rather than the glass. Two screws, washers and plugs are supplied.

The mirror is mirrored glass with a folded black metal shelf. Clean the glass with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth and wipe the shelf dry rather than leaving water on it. The shelf is a single folded sheet rather than a bracket with a top fixed to it, which is why it can be thin and still carry weight: the fold is what stiffens it. Taille is French for the cut, and also for the waist, which is what the two rounded corners make. Seven year warranty, made in Europe.
