Description

The Tacito ceiling canopy is a round steel cover for the point where a pendant light meets the ceiling, finished in black. It measures 18.5cm across and 5.4cm deep, so it sits close to the ceiling as a low, neat disc rather than a bulky box. This is an accessory, not a light in its own right: it has no lamp socket, so the bulbs and lamp holders belong to the pendant you hang beneath it.

We suggest it for anyone planning a pendant with more character than a plain white ceiling rose, or for replacing a tired canopy with a crisp black one. Several threaded metal bushes sit around its rim and a small central fixing sits in the base plate, and their brighter metal tone against the black body gives the canopy a neat, engineered look at the ceiling. Black reads clearly against a white or pale ceiling, and it pairs well with matt black pendants, dark metal shades and industrial styling in a kitchen, a hallway or a dining room.

The body is steel, and steel is a strong, rigid metal that keeps a crisp round edge. At 0.54KG it is a modest weight for a ceiling accessory. The black finish runs across the body and the base plate, so only the metal bushes stand apart from it. Before you order, measure the space you have, since the 18.5cm diameter tells you at once whether it clears a beam, a coving line or a nearby downlight. As a wired mains accessory, it is installed by a qualified electrician.
