Description
This striped seahorse figurine is made of glass, with a deep turquoise blue body wound through with bands of dark brown and cream that follow its curves from snout to tail. A clear glass crest runs down its back, tipped with bright blue points, and a rounded fin of ribbed blue glass sits at its side. The tail curls into a neat spiral above a clear glass base, so the seahorse stands upright on its own. It is 24.5cm tall, 12cm wide and 7cm deep, a good size to hold its place on a shelf without crowding it.
Because it is glass, the seahorse comes alive wherever light can reach it. On a sunny windowsill the turquoise glows and the clear crest and base catch the daylight, while on a mantelpiece or in a glass-fronted display cabinet it adds a cool splash of seaside colour. It suits a coastal-themed living room, a hallway console or a bedroom shelf, and it looks as much at home beside driftwood and shells as it does standing alone. At 24.5cm tall it reads clearly from across the room, yet its 7cm depth lets it fit a narrow ledge.
The figurine has no fittings, hooks or moving parts, and its flat clear base keeps it steady on any level surface. To keep the colours bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it straight away. As with any glass ornament, stand it back from a busy edge where it could be knocked. It makes a lovely gift that needs no wall, hook or battery, only a bright spot to stand in, and we think it looks best where the sun can shine through that turquoise glass.
