Description

The Speers SR L is a large pendant light with a clean, graphic outline: a rounded dome at the top that flares out into a wide, shallow cone shade. We offer it in two finishes, White or Black, so you can choose the one that sits best with your ceiling and furniture. The shade measures 39.5cm across and 18cm tall, and it hangs on a slim cable with a maximum drop of 400cm. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 9W and gives 1100 lumens of warm white light at 2700K, with a CRI of 90, so food, fabrics and faces look natural beneath it.

This is a pendant that comes into its own over a dining table, where the wide shade sends light down onto the table and the people sitting around it. In a living room it suits a spot above a coffee table or a favourite chair, and two or three hung in a row work well along a longer table. Choose Black for a crisp, dark silhouette against pale walls, or White for a softer look that blends with a light ceiling. It is an indoor light, rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The design is by David Abad, and its simple geometry gives the Speers SR L a calm, considered look. The ceiling canopy is compact, 7cm across and 4.7cm high, so it stays discreet once the light is up. This is a 230V mains fitting, Class I, and it is wired in by a qualified electrician. It is not dimmable, so it runs from an ordinary on and off switch rather than a dimmer. Before it goes up, measure from your ceiling to your table so the drop can be set to the right height; with a maximum of 400cm there is plenty to work with. Our photographs show the black version.
