Description

The Speers S1/L is a single LED pendant light with a shade shaped like a hat: a rounded dome cap sitting on a wide, shallow cone brim. It comes in White or Black to suit your ceiling and walls. The shade is 39.5cm across and 18cm tall, and it hangs from a slim cord with a maximum drop of 400cm, from a canopy 12cm across and 3.5cm deep. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 9W and gives 1100lm of warm 2700K light with a CRI of 90, which keeps food, fabrics and skin tones looking true.

The wide brim sends the light downwards, which makes this pendant a natural choice over a dining table, where it pools light across the tabletop and keeps glare out of people's eyes. In a living room it works over a coffee table or a reading corner, and the long drop lets you hang it low beneath a high ceiling. It dims on a compatible phase-cut dimmer, so the same pendant can give bright light for a meal and a softer glow afterwards. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. Two or three in a row work well along a longer table.

The Speers S1/L was designed by David Abad, who paired a rounded dome with a broad, shallow cone and left it at that. The two shapes meet cleanly where the cap sits on the brim, giving the pendant a crisp outline whether the light is on or off, and the plain finish in White or Black keeps the look calm in a busy room. It runs on 230V mains and is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earthed supply. It is wired in to the mains by an electrician, so book a qualified electrician to connect it to your ceiling point.
