Soria Mango Wood Toast Rack - Natural

A toast rack cut from mango wood, 20cm long and 9cm high, with seven upright fins standing on a solid plank base to make six slots. The five inner fins are plain slices with rounded tops, while the two at the ends are thicker and have their outer edges carved into a row of scallops. The wood is left bare, so the grain and the darker flecks in it run through every fin differently.

Six slots hold six slices standing on edge and clear of one another. At 20cm long and 13cm deep it sits in the middle of a breakfast table within reach from either side, and at 9cm high it does not block the view across.

The rack is mango wood, carved by hand, so the scalloping on the end pieces is cut slightly differently on every one and the tone runs from pale honey to a deeper brown between one fin and the next. Mango is grown first for its fruit and cut for timber only once the trees have stopped bearing. Soria runs to two sizes of chopping board and a lazy susan.
