Description

The Soraya is a wall light that sets a clear ribbed glass shade on a round ceramic backplate in a Marbled glaze. The shade sits at the centre of the disc, its fine ribs running out from the bulb to the rim, so the glass catches the light against the soft greys and blues of the marbling behind it. It is 28cm across and projects 15.5cm from the wall, a generous size that holds its own on a plain wall without reaching far into the room. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, and bulbs are sold separately, so you choose the bulb that suits you.

We see it at home in a living room, a dining room or a bedroom: a pair either side of a bed or a fireplace, or a row along a dining room wall where you want light at eye level rather than from overhead. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only. It comes in five finishes, Matt Black, Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Polished Brass and Satin Brass, each with the same Marbled glaze, so you can pick the one that sits best with the other metals in your room. The Matt Black finish is RAL 9005.

Each Soraya is made to order for you in Ireland, from brass, ceramic and glass. It is a Class I fitting, wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. Because the backplate is ceramic and the shade is glass, it is worth taking a little care when you change the bulb. Have an E27 bulb of up to 40W ready, and it can light the room on the day it goes up. Our photographs show the Matt Black finish.
