Description

The Solenne is a 200mm travertine wall light built around a single ring of natural light beige travertine, with a small opal glass globe set into the centre opening. A G9 lamp behind the glass casts warm light through the diffuser and across the inside edge of the stone ring. A pull-cord switch hangs from the base of the fixture, terminating in a small ball pull that lets the light be operated directly without a wall switch.

Designed for bedside positions, reading corners, hallways and lounge walls, the Solenne suits installations where switched mains aren't already in place or where a tactile pull-cord is preferred. The compact 200mm diameter sits comfortably alongside a bed or armchair without dominating the wall, and the pull switch makes it practical as a reading light next to a headboard. The fixture works on standard wall fixings and accepts any G9 bulb up to the rated wattage.

Each travertine ring shows different mineral pores, fissures and tonal variation depending on the section of stone it was cut from, so no two pieces look identical. The natural pitting in travertine catches light around the inner aperture when the lamp is on, giving the surface visible depth rather than a flat painted finish. The pairing of porous warm-toned stone against a smooth white opal globe sets up a clear contrast between rough and smooth, solid and translucent.

What bulb does it take?

The Solenne uses a single G9 capsule lamp (sold separately). A warm-white LED G9 between 2700K and 3000K matches the natural tone of the travertine and gives a soft glow through the opal globe.

How does the pull switch work?

A cord with a small metal ball hangs from the base of the fixture. Pulling the cord switches the light on and off directly at the fitting, which is useful next to a bed or reading chair where a wall switch isn't within reach.

Does each piece look the same?

No. Travertine is a natural sedimentary stone, so the pores, fissures and tonal variation differ between individual pieces. Variation in surface texture and beige tone is a feature of the material, not a defect.

How is the travertine cleaned?

Travertine is porous. Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid household sprays, polishes or acidic cleaners, as these can stain or etch the stone. For marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but do not soak the surface.
