Description

The Soft S/30 is a bell-shaped outdoor pendant light in aluminium and silicone, with a Light Grey shade covered in a raised diamond pattern that gives it texture and depth. The shade is 24cm tall and 30cm across, flared towards the base, and a white diffuser closes its open underside so the bulb stays out of sight from below. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 15W. That bulb is sold separately and is what gives the fitting its light, so pick one of 15W or less in the colour of light you prefer. The fitting is finished in Textured & Black, set off by the Light Grey shade.

Because it is rated IP44 and made for outdoor use, the Soft S/30 suits a covered terrace, a porch or a garden dining table, and it is as much at home indoors in a dining room or living room. The Light Grey colour and patterned surface sit happily against brick, timber and plaster, and the bell shape keeps a clean outline over a table or an entrance. The design is by Danos Salgados, who gave a simple bell shape a patterned surface and built it in aluminium and silicone. It is a Class II fitting for 230V mains, wired in by a qualified electrician. Its IP44 rating suits outdoor use as well as indoor rooms, so one look can carry from the dining room out to the terrace without changing fittings, and the Light Grey tone stays easy to live with in daylight or at night.
