Description
This snowy little Christmas tree is a trinket box in disguise: its upper tiers lift on a small hinge to reveal a hollow tucked inside the lower branches. It stands 9cm tall, 6cm across and 6cm deep. The deep green branches are tipped with thick white snow and flecked with tiny points of red, blue and amber, while little bells in red, purple, pink and green hang from the boughs like baubles. A glittering star sits at the top, and the tree rises from a brown trunk set on a round gold-coloured base with a little wrapped parcel at its foot.
It is a Christmas piece that earns its place on a mantelpiece, a dressing table, a bedside table or a windowsill, where its glossy finish catches the glow of fairy lights. Small enough to tuck among cards and greenery on a sideboard, it also sits happily beside a place setting on the festive table. Lift the top and there is room inside for a trinket or two, so it is as much a box as an ornament, with a small surprise for whoever opens it. We think it makes a thoughtful Christmas gift, and one that can come out with the decorations each December.
The tree has a shiny finish that brings out the deep green of the branches against the white of the snow. Its upper section opens on a small hinge and lowers back onto the bottom tier when closed. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth, taking care around the hanging bells and the star, and open and close the lid gently rather than lifting the whole piece by its top. For gifting, tuck a handwritten note inside before you wrap it. For display, give it a spot at eye level, where the bells and the snowy branches can be admired up close.
