Description
This SMD LED strip is a flexible 5m reel of spaced surface-mount diodes that lays a continuous line of light along shelving, coving and joinery. It draws 9.6W per metre and gives 1028 lumens per metre in a 3000K warm white tone, so a full reel delivers a steady, even output for indoor accent and task runs. Often listed as LED tape or light strip, it runs on 12V DC and is cut to length at the marked intervals, letting you trim a run to fit the exact length of a cabinet, plinth or stair edge.
Indoor settings suit it best: under kitchen wall units, along the underside of a shelf, behind a headboard, or framing a media unit or coving line. With around 1028 lumens per metre it grazes a surface or fills a shadow gap rather than lighting a whole room, so plan runs by the length of the feature you want to pick out rather than by floor area. Position the reel just out of direct sightline so the diodes graze the surface and the light reads as a clean band rather than a row of points.
The strip carries an IP00 rating, so it is for dry indoor use only and must be kept clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor location. It needs a matching 12V DC LED driver, sold separately, and does not run direct from the mains, so size the driver to the total wattage of the run you cut. The CRI Ra80 output keeps colours looking natural across the warm white field, and at 9.6W per metre the reel stays efficient over its 15,000-hour rated life.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it needs a matching 12V LED driver, which is sold separately. It does not plug straight into a mains socket, and the driver should be rated for the total wattage of the length you install.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. The reel is cut to length only at the marked cut points along its run. This lets you trim a section to fit a cabinet, shelf or plinth, with each metre drawing 9.6W and giving 1028 lumens.
Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. This strip is rated IP00, which means dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor location, where a coated IP65 strip would be needed instead.
How do I clean and look after the strip?
Wipe the surface gently with a dry or barely damp cloth once the power is off, keeping moisture away from the cut ends and connections. Avoid solvents or abrasive cleaners, which can mark the diodes and coating. Kept dry and dust-free, the strip holds its warm white output across its 15,000-hour rated life.
