Description

The SMD LED Strip is a 5 metre reel of spaced SMD diodes on a flexible backing, giving a bright, even line of light for shelving, coving and under-cabinet runs. It draws 9.6W per metre and puts out 1080 lumens per metre in a crisp 6500K daylight tone, with a CRI of Ra 80 for clean, accurate colour. In US terms this is an SMD LED tape light, the kind used for under-cabinet and accent lighting. The strip runs on 12V DC, so it pairs with a matching 12V LED driver rather than connecting straight to the mains.

Because the light sits in a continuous line rather than a single point, the strip suits indirect and accent work: tucked under a kitchen wall unit, run along a shelf edge, set into a plasterboard cove or used to backlight a display. The daylight tone keeps task areas looking sharp, while the slim 8mm width lets the reel sit in narrow channels and profiles. Coverage depends on how much length you mount, so plan the run to the surface you want to graze rather than a fixed room area. It is rated IP00, which means dry indoor use only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, damp utility spaces and anywhere exposed outdoors.

The reel measures 5000mm long and 8mm wide and cuts to length at the marked points, letting you trim each section to the exact run you need. It is wired for 12V DC and needs a 12V LED driver, sold separately, sized to the total wattage of the strip you install. The flexible backing bends around corners and along curved profiles, and rated life is 15,000 hours. Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it needs a matching 12V LED driver, which is sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you install, allowing for the strip's 9.6W per metre.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. The reel cuts only at the marked cut points along its length, so you can trim each run to fit the shelf, cabinet or cove you are lighting. The full reel is 5 metres long.

Can I use this strip outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP00, which is for dry indoor use only. It should be kept clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor location, where a coated IP65 strip would be needed instead.

What colour and brightness does it give?
