Description
This SMD LED strip lights a 5 metre flexible reel with spaced SMD diodes, drawing 4.8W per metre for a clean run of cool white light at 4000K. Each metre puts out around 470 lumens, so a full reel gives a continuous, even line that suits accent and outline runs rather than broad room lighting. Known in the US as LED tape light or light strip, it cuts to length at the marked points so you only fit what the job needs. Colour rendering is rated Ra 80, giving a faithful enough finish for shelving, display and under-cabinet detail.
The strip works well as an indoor accent: under kitchen cabinets, along shelf edges, inside display cases, behind a headboard or to outline a stair stringer or cove. Because it is a low, linear source rather than ambient room lighting, judge it on the line of light it draws and the surfaces it grazes, not on floor coverage. With an IP00 rating it is for dry interior locations only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any exposed position. Plan the run so cut points fall sensibly and the driver sits within reach of a mains spur.
Built on a slim 8mm flexible backing, the reel bends around corners and curves to follow most edges and recesses. It runs on 12V DC, so it is not a mains-direct fitting and needs a matching 12V LED driver, supplied separately, sized to the total wattage of the length you install. Rated for 15,000 hours, it cuts only at the marked intervals along the reel, and the adhesive back fixes it to a clean, dry surface. We also stock the IP65 coated version of this strip for damp and sheltered locations where this IP00 reel cannot be used.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it is not wired straight to the mains and needs a matching 12V LED driver, sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you fit, allowing 4.8W for every metre used.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes, the reel cuts to length at the marked cut points only, so you fit just the run you need. Always cut at the printed marks rather than between them to keep the circuit intact, and seal or insulate any unused free end.
Can I use this strip outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. This reel is rated IP00, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, damp areas and any exposed outdoor position. For those locations choose the IP65 coated version of this strip instead.
How do I keep the strip clean?
Wipe the surface with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth once the strip is switched off and cool. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners, which can mark the diodes or lift the adhesive backing, and never let moisture reach an IP00 strip.
