Description
This SMD LED strip is a flexible 5 metre reel of spaced SMD diodes that gives a continuous warm white line of light at 450 lumens per metre. Often searched for as led tape or simply led strip lights, it draws 4.8W per metre and runs from a 12V DC supply, so it works as accent and detail lighting rather than as a main room light. The 3000K warm white tone suits cosy, relaxed settings, and the strip cuts to length at the marked points so a run can be trimmed to fit the space it lights.
Because it puts out a low, even glow rather than broad room illumination, this strip is best judged on where the light lands rather than on a floor area. It sits well under kitchen cabinets, along shelving, behind a headboard, inside cove and ceiling recesses, or as an outline behind a media unit, throwing a soft warm wash across the adjacent surface. As an IP00 strip it is for dry indoor positions only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, porches and any damp or outdoor location. Mount it on a clean, dry surface using the backing, and route the reel along the line you want to pick out.
The diodes sit on a slim, bendable circuit tape measuring 8mm wide, light enough at 56g for the supplied adhesive backing to hold along most runs. It is rated IP00 with a CRI of Ra 80 for natural-looking warm white colour, and a rated life of 15,000 hours. As a 12V DC strip it is not mains-direct and needs a matching 12V LED driver, sized to the total wattage of the length used and supplied separately. Cut only at the marked intervals to keep each section working. This warm white reel sits alongside other outputs and IP-rated coated versions in the wider strip range.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a separate driver?
Yes. It is a 12V DC strip, so it does not run straight from the mains and needs a matching 12V LED driver, which is supplied separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you use, allowing 4.8W for every metre of strip on the run.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. The reel is designed to be cut to length at the marked cut points along the tape, so you can trim it to fit a shelf, cabinet or cove run. Only cut at those marked intervals, as cutting between them will stop that section working.
Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. This strip is rated IP00, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, porches and any damp, wet or outdoor location, where a coated IP65 version from the range would be needed instead.
How bright is it and what colour is the light?
It gives 450 lumens per metre in a 3000K warm white tone, with a CRI of Ra 80 for natural-looking colour. That makes it well suited to accent and detail lighting such as under-cabinet, shelf and cove runs rather than lighting a whole room.
