Description

This SMD LED strip is a flexible 5m reel of spaced SMD diodes, supplied as one of the most versatile formats in the LED strip lights category. It draws up to 16W per metre and runs on 12V DC, so it pairs with a matching LED driver rather than connecting straight to a mains socket. The strip is tuneable white, switching between a warm 3000K and a crisp 6000K, which lets the same run shift from a relaxed glow to a brighter working tone. American buyers searching for LED tape light will recognise the same reel-and-cut approach here, with diodes set at intervals along the backing.

The strip cuts to length at the marked points every 5cm, so a run can be sized exactly to a cabinet, shelf, alcove or cove without waste. It suits under-cabinet kitchen lighting, display shelving, stair noses and discreet outline detailing where a continuous low line of light is wanted. Rather than acting as a room's main source, it adds accent and task glow along edges and recesses, so coverage is best judged by the length of the run and where the light grazes rather than by a floor area. The CRI of Ra 90 holds colour true across the warm-to-cool range, and rated life is around 30,000 hours. Does this LED strip need a driver?

Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it cannot connect directly to a mains socket and needs a matching 12V LED driver, sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, allowing 16W for every metre of strip used.

Where can the strip be cut?

The strip can be shortened at the marked cut points spaced every 5cm along the reel. Cutting only at these points keeps each section working correctly. The full reel is 5m long, giving plenty of scope to size runs to shelves, cabinets and alcoves.

Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. This version carries an IP00 rating, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it away from bathrooms, damp utility spaces and any outdoor position. For sheltered or damp settings, choose the IP65 coated strip from the same range instead.

How do I switch the colour temperature?

The strip is tuneable white and can be set anywhere between a warm 3000K and a cool 6000K, controlled through a compatible tuneable-white driver or controller. This lets one run move from a relaxed warm glow to a brighter working light. The Ra 90 colour rendering keeps tones accurate across the range.
