Description
The SMD LED Strip is a flexible 30m reel of spaced SMD diodes that gives a bright, even line of light along its length. It draws 16W per metre and puts out 1920 lumens per metre in a fixed 4000K cool white, so a run reads crisp and clean rather than warm. Known across the US as LED tape or light strip, it suits anyone wanting a continuous, low-profile source they can shape to a surface. The strip is cut-to-length at marked points every 5cm, letting you tailor a run to a shelf, a cove or a cabinet edge without waste.
Indoors this strip earns its place in under-cabinet runs, display shelving, cove and pelmet detailing, and accent lines behind joinery or along a stair stringer. Because the diodes are spaced rather than continuous, light reads as a defined linear stripe, which works well for outlining and edge-lighting rather than as a primary room source. Coverage is best judged by run length and mounting position: a single 30m reel can light a long kitchen perimeter or wrap several cabinets, and shorter cut sections suit individual shelves or alcoves. Position the strip behind a lip or within a channel to hide the diodes and throw a smooth wash onto the adjacent surface.
The strip runs on 24V DC, so it needs a matching 24V LED driver, which is supplied separately and sized to the total wattage of the run you cut. With an IP00 rating it is a dry indoor product only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor position. The diodes carry an Ra 80 colour rendering and a rated 30,000 hour lifespan, and the flexible reel bends around corners and follows curved profiles. Our range also includes coated IP65 strips and matching drivers for projects that need both a damp-rated line and an indoor one.

Frequently Asked
Does this strip need a separate driver?
Yes. It runs on 24V DC, not mains voltage, so it needs a 24V LED driver to power it. The driver is sold separately and should be rated to handle the total wattage of the length you install, allowing 16W for every metre of strip in the run.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. The reel can be cut every 5cm at the marked cut points along its length. Only cut at these marks so each section keeps its full circuit, then connect the cut length back to the 24V driver.
Is this strip suitable for outdoor or bathroom use?
No. With an IP00 rating it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, kitchens splash zones, damp areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor position, and choose a coated IP65 strip from the range where moisture is a factor.
How should the strip be cleaned and maintained?
Wipe the strip gently with a dry or barely damp lint-free cloth while it is switched off and cool, avoiding solvents that could lift the diodes or adhesive. Keep the surface free of dust so light output stays even, and check the connections to the driver remain secure over time.
