Description

The SMD LED Strip is a flexible reel of spaced SMD diodes giving a continuous line of cool white light at 4000K. It draws 11W per metre and puts out 900 lumens per metre, with a high CRI of Ra 90 for accurate colour. Known in the US as led tape light or a light strip, it runs from a 12V DC LED driver rather than straight off the mains, so a matching driver must be added to the run (sold separately). The reel measures 30 metres and the strip cuts to length at the marked points every 5cm, letting you size each run to the job.

This strip suits indoor accent and task jobs where a neat, hidden line of light is wanted: under kitchen cabinets, along shelving, inside display cases, above coving and around joinery. The cool white tone keeps work surfaces and detailing crisp, so it works well over a worktop or in a study nook as well as for general outlining. Coverage is best judged by the run length you cut rather than a floor area, since the light grazes along whatever edge or recess it follows. Plan the layout around the 12V driver capacity and keep individual runs within the driver's rated load for even brightness end to end.

Built on a flexible backing, the strip bends around corners and curves to follow cabinet edges and recesses. It carries an IP00 rating, which means it is for dry indoor use only and should be kept out of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor position. Power comes from a separate 12V DC LED driver, so size the driver to the total wattage of the run you cut. Rated for around 30,000 hours, it cuts cleanly every 5cm at the marked points. Does this LED strip need a driver?

Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it cannot be wired straight to the mains and needs a separate 12V LED driver, sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you cut, allowing 11W for every metre of strip on the run.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. It can be cut every 5cm at the marked cut points along the reel, so you can tailor each run to the cabinet, shelf or recess. Only cut at the marked intervals to keep each section working.

Can I use this strip outdoors or in a bathroom?

No. This strip is rated IP00, which is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor position, and choose an IP65 coated strip for those locations instead.

How do I clean the strip?

Switch off and wipe the surface gently with a dry or barely damp soft cloth, avoiding solvents and excess water. As an IP00 fitting it must stay dry, so never let moisture reach the diodes or connections.
