The Knightsbridge Smart IP66 13A 2 Gang Outdoor Socket is a weatherproof Wi-Fi controlled socket rated IP66/IK08 for permanent outdoor installation. The socket provides two independently switched 13A outlets behind a hinged polycarbonate cover with a gasket seal, allowing control of outdoor lighting, water features, pond pumps and seasonal decorations either manually at the socket or remotely via smartphone using the SmartKnight or Smartlife apps.

Designed to replace a standard 2-gang outdoor switched socket where smart control is needed, the unit connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks and integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and SIRI Shortcuts for voice control. The timer function allows scheduled switching for items like garden lighting to turn on at dusk and off at dawn, or festive lighting to operate on a set pattern. Power monitoring within the app shows real-time consumption for each outlet, useful for tracking usage of pumps or heaters.

The polycarbonate construction and IP66 rating protect the socket against heavy rain, dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for external walls, garden outbuildings, patios and garage exteriors. The IK08 impact rating gives resistance to knocks from garden tools or wheelbarrows. The socket measures 153mm high by 170mm wide with an 84mm projection from the wall when the cover is closed. Standby power consumption is 0.8W, comparable to a phone charger left plugged in.

The socket is not rated for EV charging and should not be used with electric vehicle charge points. The 13A rating handles standard UK outdoor appliances up to 3,120W per outlet. The 2-year warranty covers the electronic control circuit and the mechanical switching components.

The socket connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks only (IEEE802.11b/g/n). It does not support 5GHz networks. Range depends on your router signal strength and any obstacles between the socket and the router.

Can I control each outlet independently?

Yes. Both 13A outlets can be switched independently via the app or voice control, allowing you to schedule or control two different devices separately from a single socket.

Is it suitable for EV charging?

No. This socket is not rated for electric vehicle charging and must not be used with EV charge points. Use only with standard outdoor appliances within the 13A rating per outlet.

What does IP66 and IK08 mean?

IP66 means the socket is fully dust-tight and protected against heavy rain and low-pressure water jets. IK08 means it can withstand impacts of 5 joules, roughly equivalent to a 1.7kg object dropped from 30cm, giving resistance to knocks from garden equipment.
