This smart LED globe bulb pairs a clear glass globe, 8cm in diameter and 13.2cm long, with a spiral filament that coils up through the centre. Beneath the glass sit a black collar and a silver E27 screw cap, the larger of the common screw caps found on lamps and pendants. It draws 4.9W and gives 400lm at 3000K, a warm white, and because it is RGBW it can show colour as well as white. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, away from water and out of the garden.

Because the glass is clear, the coiled filament becomes part of the look, so this bulb earns its place in an open pendant, a bare lampholder or a lamp where the bulb stays on show. It suits a living room, a dining area or a hallway where you want a warm glow most evenings and a splash of colour when the mood calls for it. At 400lm it gives a gentle, decorative level of light rather than bright task lighting, so we would pair it with other lights wherever you read or cook.
