Description

The Slend 02 is a slim aluminium pendant light with a long, tapering body that widens into a stack of rings and ends in a flared lower section, open at the base where the bulb sits. It is made of aluminium and iron, with a textured finish, and comes in a choice of Textured White, Textured Black, Textured Pebble Grey, Textured Olive Grey, Textured Terracotta, Textured Grey Blue and Textured Sand Yellow. The pendant is 65cm long and 11cm across at the shade, and it hangs from a round canopy 8cm across that sits neatly on the ceiling.

We think it suits a dining room best, hung low over the table, and it works just as well in a living room where a wide shade would crowd the space. It has a drop of 80cm to 200cm on a cable 135cm long, so it can sit close over a table or hang higher in a room with a tall ceiling. Because the outline is so narrow, two or three can hang side by side, at matching or staggered heights, without taking over the room. The darker colours read clearly against pale walls, while the lighter ones sit quietly with them.

The Slend 02 was designed by Christophe Mathieu. It runs on 230V mains power and is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician, and it is a Class II fitting. It takes one GU10 bulb of up to 8W, sold separately; the bulb is what gives the light, so the fitting needs one before it will light up. GU10 is a common cap, which keeps choosing a bulb simple. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. A practical tip: have the bulb ready on the day your electrician comes, so the light is working as soon as it goes up.
