Description
This sitting glass frog figurine has a plump, rounded body, four splayed legs and a lifted head, as though it is about to croak. Its back is a deep green that brightens to a vivid green along the sides, swept with fine brown stripes that curve around the body, and its pale white belly is striped in brown too. The legs are clear glass streaked with bright green, so light passes through them and gives the frog a fresh, watery look, and two black eyes ringed in white sit high on its head. It stands 8cm high, 13cm wide and 9.5cm deep, small enough for the narrowest shelf.
Glass loves the light, so we like this frog best on a sunny windowsill, where the daylight picks out every swirl of green and makes the clear legs glow. It is just as happy on a bookshelf, a mantelpiece or a desk among houseplants. Because it sits steadily on its own four feet, it needs no stand, hook or fixing; simply set it down and turn it to face the room. It makes a happy little gift too, small enough to wrap easily and colourful enough to raise a smile.
The figurine is glass throughout, with its greens, whites and browns running through the glass in stripes and swirls, and tiny bubbles caught here and there add to its character. Each foot ends in neat little toes, and the smooth, glossy finish catches reflections from every angle. To keep it bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it straight away to avoid water marks. As with any glass piece, set it back from the edge of a busy shelf. For a lively display, group it with a trailing plant or a few pebbles on a windowsill and let the light do the rest.
