The Sismanne is a flush ceiling light built around an open, faceted cage of black steel wire, fixed to a round wooden mount that sits against the ceiling. The cage is wider than it is tall, measuring 45.5cm in diameter and 20.5cm high, so it brings a good sense of scale without hanging low over your head. It takes a single E27 bulb in a standard screw fitting, which leaves you free to choose the colour and brightness of light you want. The bulb is not included. It is rated IP20, which means it is made for dry rooms indoors, away from bathrooms and anywhere water may reach.

Because it sits close to the ceiling, the Sismanne works well in rooms where a pendant would feel in the way: a hallway, a landing, a bedroom or a living room with a standard ceiling height. The mix of black metal and natural wood suits industrial, modern and rustic interiors alike, and the black wire reads clearly against a pale ceiling. With the bulb in plain view through the open cage, the choice of bulb becomes part of the look, so it pays to pick one you are happy to see.
