Description

The Sirio is a compact box-shaped outdoor wall light that fixes to a wall and aims one beam straight down. Lit, it lays a clean pool of light on the surface below to mark a doorway, a step or a stretch of facade, while the body stays a quiet block rather than a glare in the eye. Unlit, it reads as a plain square shape sitting close against the wall.

This is the grey version, 160mm deep off the wall on a 100mm square face and only 50mm tall, small enough to flank a front door in pairs or run along a garden wall without crowding it. The mid-grey finish keeps the fitting discreet against render, stone or a painted wall in daylight, and its downward throw guides the way underfoot without lighting up the sky or a neighbour's window.

The body is powder-coated die-cast aluminium built for outdoor life, and the light leaves through a clear tempered glass diffuser set into the underside. It takes a single GX53 bulb up to 9W, which is not included, so we would fit a GX53 lamp to suit; the standard cap means a wide choice of colour temperature. Rated IP65 against dust and water jets, it is made to stand outside all year.

What kind of light does the Sirio give?

A single downward beam. The glass diffuser sits on the underside of the box, so the fitting washes light straight down the wall to pick out a door, a step or a path, keeping the source itself out of direct view.

Does it need a bulb?

Yes. It takes one GX53 bulb up to 9W, which is not included, so we would fit a GX53 lamp to suit. The standard cap gives a wide choice of LED bulbs and colour temperatures, so you set the brightness and tone.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. It is rated IP65, sealed against dust and water jets, and the die-cast aluminium body is powder coated to stand outside all year. It should be wired to a suitable outdoor supply by a qualified electrician.

How big is it and where does it suit?

The face is 100mm square and just 50mm tall, standing 160mm off the wall. This small down light suits a front door, a porch, a garden wall or a set of steps where light is wanted low and aimed at the ground.
