Description

The Simen DSO W/G is a round recessed spotlight that sits flush into the ceiling to give a neat, directional point of light. It takes a Gx5.3 or GU10 lamp rated up to 10W and accepts standard MR16 or PAR16 light sources, so the beam character follows the lamp you choose rather than a fixed integrated module. It runs from 12V AC, 12V DC or 220-240V AC, which makes it flexible across both low-voltage and mains GU10 setups. In US terms this is a recessed can light, here in a compact Ø75mm round trim.

The Simen suits indoor rooms where focused light is wanted over a worktop, shelf, artwork or seating area, and several units can be spaced across a ceiling to build an even wash. Because the output depends on the lamp fitted, coverage and throw are set by the MR16 or PAR16 you pair with it rather than a fixed lumen figure, so a tighter-beam lamp gives a concentrated pool while a wider beam spreads the light further. As an IP20 fitting it is for dry indoor locations only and should be kept out of bathrooms, porches and any damp or outdoor position.

Construction is aluminium alloy in a white and gold finish, measuring Ø75 by 42mm and weighing just 80g, so it is light enough for straightforward recessed installation. The Mounting is recessed into the ceiling, dropping into a cut-out to leave only the slim trim on show. Is this spotlight suitable for bathroom or outdoor use?

No. The Simen DSO is rated IP20, which means it is for dry indoor use only. It should not be installed in bathrooms, porches, carports or any damp or outdoor location.

Is a GU10 bulb included, and is the fitting dimmable?

The lamp is specified separately, so you can fit a Gx5.3 or GU10 MR16/PAR16 light source to suit. Dimming depends on the lamp and any transformer or driver used, so choose a dimmable lamp and compatible control if you want adjustable brightness.

What beam angle does it give?

Beam angle is set by the lamp you fit rather than the fixture itself. An MR16 or PAR16 lamp is available in narrow to wide beams, so you can pick a tight spot for accent lighting or a broader beam for general coverage.

How do I clean it?

Switch off the power and let any lamp cool, then wipe the white and gold trim with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners so the aluminium alloy finish stays in good condition.
