Description

The Simen DSO W/B is a round recessed spotlight frame that takes a single GU10 or Gx5.3 lamp, holding an MR16 or PAR16 light source flush in the ceiling. It runs at low voltage (12V AC or 12V DC) or mains 220-240V AC depending on the lamp fitted, drawing up to 10W. With its compact Ø75 millimetre body and 42 millimetre depth, it sits neatly into a small ceiling cut-out and directs a focused pool of light downward, the beam shaped by whichever GU10 or MR16 lamp you choose. Known in some markets as a recessed spotlight or can-style fitting, it gives you the trim and lamp holder while leaving the bulb selection open.

Because the lamp is not included, the spread and throw depend on the GU10 or MR16 you pair with it, making this frame a flexible choice for accent and task lighting across living rooms, hallways and kitchens. A narrow-beam lamp picks out artwork, shelving or a worktop, while a wider beam gives broader fill across a seating area. With an IP20 rating it is rated for dry indoor use only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, porches and any damp or outdoor position. The shallow 42 millimetre depth suits ceilings with limited void above, and several frames can be grouped to build a run of accent points across a room.

The frame is built from aluminium alloy and supplied in a two-tone white and black finish, with the black inner trim helping to reduce glare from the lamp face. Mounting is recessed into the ceiling via a round cut-out sized to the Ø75 millimetre body, and the Gx5.3/GU10 holder accepts standard MR16 or PAR16 lamps. No. It carries an IP20 rating, which means it is suitable for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, shower zones, porches and any damp or outdoor location, and choose an IP65-rated fitting for those areas.

Is a bulb included?

No, the lamp is supplied separately. The Gx5.3/GU10 holder accepts standard MR16 or PAR16 lamps, so you can fit either a 12V MR16 or a mains GU10 to suit your wiring and the brightness you want.

What beam angle does it give?

The beam is set by the lamp you fit rather than the frame itself. A narrow-beam GU10 or MR16 creates a tight accent pool for artwork or a worktop, while a wider-beam lamp spreads light more broadly across a room.

How do I clean it?

Switch off the power and let any lamp cool first. Wipe the aluminium frame and black trim with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth, avoiding solvents and abrasive cleaners that could mark the white or black finish.
