The Silentina is a compact ceiling light built around an open square cage of black steel. A solid square plate fixes flat to the ceiling, and four slim uprights drop to a square lower frame, so the light reads as a neat outlined cube rather than a solid shade. It measures 18cm long, 18cm wide and 20.5cm high. Inside the cage, a single cylindrical holder hangs from the ceiling plate on a short swivel arm and takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W. You choose the bulb yourself because it is not included. The light is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Because it sits close to the ceiling, the Silentina suits rooms where a hanging pendant would feel crowded: a hallway, a landing, a box room, a study or a kitchen with a modest ceiling height. The open frame keeps the bulb on show from every side, and the black steel lines give a crisp industrial look that works in a simple modern room. We like that the holder can be angled within the cage, so you can tilt the bulb a little towards a wall, a corner or a favourite picture, something a fixed holder would never allow. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall.

The body is steel in a black finish, and the light weighs 1.33KG packed. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, and as a wired-in ceiling light it is installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions are available as a download. Care is simple: a wipe with a soft, dry cloth clears dust from the bars and the ceiling plate. One practical note: the light comes without a bulb, so pick an E27 bulb of 40W or less alongside it and the Silentina is ready the day it is fitted.
