Description

The Siam 80 is a wide, shallow ceiling light: a cone of cream translucent ribbon, finely pleated all the way round, held on a white structure. It is 80cm across and 28cm tall, and it sits on a stem 9.5cm long beneath a canopy 12cm across, so the broad cone stays close to the ceiling and reads as a soft disc of colour from anywhere in the room. When it is lit, light passes through the ribbon and out through a round diffuser at the base of the cone, giving a gentle, even glow across the shade rather than a hard spot of light.

We see this ribbon ceiling light in rooms with space around it: a bedroom, a living room, a dining room or an open plan area where one broad shade sits at the centre of the ceiling. The cream ribbon warms a pale scheme and softens a darker one, and the white structure keeps the fixing quiet against a white ceiling. It is an indoor fitting rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only, and it brings the most to a room where its width has clear space on every side.

The structure is made of iron and stainless steel, finished in white, and the shade is cream translucent ribbon. It takes three E27 bulbs of up to 9W each; these are not included and are sold separately, and they are what give the fitting its light, so have them ready before it goes up. It runs on 230V mains, is a Class I fitting and is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician.
