Description
The Shirebrook is a single-light bathroom wall light with a frosted glass shade set on a polished chrome frame, rated IP44 for use in bathroom zones 2 and 3. The fitting includes a 3W G9 LED bulb at 3000K colour temperature, casting warm white light through the frosted glass to provide diffused ambient illumination.
Designed for vanity mirror surrounds, alcove walls and general bathroom lighting, the Shirebrook measures 230mm high by 110mm wide with a 135mm projection from the wall. The compact footprint suits bathrooms with limited wall space where a bulkier fitting would dominate the room. The IP44 rating means the fitting is protected against water splashes from any direction, making it safe for installation above sinks, adjacent to showers, and in rooms with high humidity.
The polished chrome finish provides a high-gloss metallic surface that reflects both natural and artificial light, helping to brighten smaller bathrooms and en-suites. The frosted glass shade sits in a squared, gently tapering form that balances contemporary minimalism with enough visual presence to anchor the fitting on the wall. The chrome and glass pairing works in modern, transitional and updated traditional bathroom schemes.
The included G9 LED is rated at 3W, consuming approximately one-tenth of the energy of a traditional halogen G9 while delivering comparable light output. Elstead Lighting backs the Shirebrook with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for bathroom use?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This rating is suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, which covers most wall positions except directly inside or above a shower enclosure or bath (zone 1). The Shirebrook can be safely installed above sinks, on vanity walls, and in general bathroom positions.
Is the LED bulb replaceable?
Yes. The fitting uses a standard G9 base, so the LED can be replaced when it reaches end of life. The maximum wattage is 3W LED — do not exceed this rating as higher-wattage bulbs may generate excess heat and damage the fitting.
Can it be installed with the shade facing downwards?
The Shirebrook is designed to be mounted with the shade facing upwards as shown. Inverting the fitting may affect the light distribution and is not recommended by the manufacturer.
How is the chrome finish maintained?
Wipe the polished chrome frame with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust and water spots. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but dry immediately to prevent water staining. Avoid abrasive cleaners, bathroom sprays and chemical polishes, which can damage the chrome plating.
