Description
Shadows of Tradition is a two-piece wall installation made from hand-made textured fibreglass. Across the panels sits a collage of carved blocks in rust orange, cream, grey and brown, including two mask-like faces and sections of glyph relief. The blocks read as an assembled composition, with the two faces anchoring the design and the glyph panels filling out the surrounding space. Set together, the two pieces reach 300cm wide by 270cm high and cover 8.10 square metres, giving you a large, filled expanse rather than a single small focal point.
This is a piece for a broad, open wall where its scale can be seen properly. It works well above a low sideboard in a living room, in a double-height reception space, or in a commercial setting such as a lounge, gallery corner or waiting area. The warm earthy palette of rust, cream, grey and brown appeals to anyone drawn to sculptural, art-led wall pieces with a handmade quality, and it suits both pared-back rooms that need warmth and busier interiors that can carry a bold central feature.
The two panels are cast in hand-made textured fibreglass, which keeps the overall weight to 52 kg while holding crisp detail across the carved blocks and faces. Because it splits into two pieces, each section is easier to handle and position during installation. We recommend fixing to a solid wall using appropriate wall plugs and fixings suited to the weight, ideally with two people to align the panels. To clean, wipe gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the surface. For styling, let the piece lead the wall and keep nearby furniture and accessories low and simple so the carved detail stays the focus.

Frequently Asked
What is it made from?
It is made from hand-made textured fibreglass. This keeps the weight down to 52 kg while holding the detail of the carved blocks, mask-like faces and glyph relief across both panels.
How do the two pieces go together?
The design is split across two panels that sit side by side to form one composition. We suggest positioning them together on the wall and aligning the edges so the carved blocks and faces read as a continuous collage.
How should I fix it to the wall?
Fix to a solid wall using wall plugs and fixings rated for the 52 kg weight. We recommend two people to hold and align each panel during installation for a level result.
How do I clean it?
Wipe gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scourers or harsh chemicals, as these can dull the textured surface over time.
How much wall space do I need?
Assembled, the piece measures 300cm wide by 270cm high and covers 8.10 square metres. Allow a little extra clearance around the edges so the two panels can sit comfortably on the wall.
