Description

A glass storage jar 25.5cm tall and 20.5cm across, holding 5 litres. The body swells from a narrow base out to a wide shoulder and then draws back in to a flat rimmed mouth. The lower half carries a hammered texture that breaks the light into small facets, while the shoulder above it is left plain. The glass is recycled and holds a faint green cast. The lid is mango wood, with a short leather tab pulled through the top to lift it by.

Five litres makes this a bulk jar rather than a spice jar: oats, grains, pasta and biscuits are what it is sized for. At 25.5cm tall it stands above a run of smaller jars on a counter rather than lining up with them, and the mouth is wide enough at 20.5cm across for a hand to go in rather than a scoop. Nothing in it is hidden, which matters on a jar this size, because the contents are the only label it has.

The body is recycled glass, hammered by hand, so no two jars carry the same pattern of facets. The lid is mango wood and the pull is leather, tanned and dyed with vegetable extract. It is meant for dry food.
