Description

A canvas wall art, 60cm tall, in natural. At 40cm wide it is about the width of a laptop. Wall art is the one purchase judged entirely on where it goes. Hang the centre at eye level rather than centring it on the wall, and give a single piece more empty wall around it than instinct suggests.

Natural sits with almost anything, which is the practical argument for it: it does not commit the room to a colour scheme the way a painted finish does. Pieces bought as a set have already been matched for finish and proportion, which is the hard part of grouping anything. Split them between rooms and they still read as related. The body is MDF under the finish, which is what keeps a piece this size affordable and dimensionally stable — MDF does not move with the seasons the way solid timber does.

It hangs on a triangle hook. A triangle plate takes an ordinary picture hook, which is the most forgiving fixing there is — the hook can move a few millimetres and the piece will still hang straight. Supplied as a set of 3.

There is nothing delicate about it. The finish takes a wipe, there is no crevice collecting dust and no fabric to mark, which is the practical case for it in a room that actually gets used.

Measure the wall, then take two thirds of its width as the upper limit for a single piece. Above a sofa or a console, aim for roughly the width of the furniture beneath it.
