Description
This ornate paper bauble is a Christmas tree decoration with plenty of shape to it, folded from soft white paper into a tall, tiered silhouette. A rounded crown sits at the top, the body swells out into a wide, scalloped middle, and below that it narrows through a stack of smaller rings to a neat rounded tip. Every fold opens into fine honeycomb fins, so the shape reads clearly from any side of the tree and the light falls softly across its curves. A thin gold edge runs along the paper, a quiet detail you notice up close. At 15cm, it has enough presence to hold its own on a branch.
It is made for the Christmas tree, hung from a branch by the short white loop at its top, but it looks just as good away from the tree. Hang it from a hook in the hallway, from a curtain pole in a window, or from a garland along the mantelpiece, where its layered outline shows against a plain wall. The soft white paper sits happily in a pale, natural scheme alongside wood, linen and greenery, and it brings a gentle, warm note to a brighter, more traditional tree too. It also makes a pretty finishing touch tied to a wrapped Christmas present.
The bauble is formed from layers of paper folded into honeycomb fins, with the gold picked out along their edges and a white loop for hanging. Paper wants a gentle hand: dust it with a soft dry cloth, keep it dry, and as with any paper decoration, hang it well away from candles, open flames and hot bulbs. Between seasons, store it in a box somewhere cool and dry so the folds keep their shape. We like to hang it near the front of the tree at eye level, where its tiered outline and gold edge can be seen.
