Description

The Senna is a ceramic ceiling light: a slim cylinder shade in a Matt White Striped glaze, held close to the ceiling on a round brass plate. Fine vertical stripes run the length of the ceramic, giving the matt white surface a gentle texture that catches the light. The shade is open at its lower end, so light from the bulb falls downwards into the room. It stands 23cm tall and 12cm across. The brass ceiling plate and holder come in six finishes: Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Matt Black, Polished Brass, Polished Copper and Satin Brass; the Matt Black version is painted to RAL 9005.

Because it sits close to the ceiling, the Senna suits rooms where a hanging light would be in the way: a hallway, a landing, a walk-in wardrobe or a bedroom with a lower ceiling. A row of them along a corridor gives an even, rhythmic line of light, and one on its own makes a calm focal point over a small study or reading corner. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The pale ceramic sits easily against plain plaster, while the finish you choose sets the tone: warm with Antique Brass, Polished Brass, Satin Brass or Polished Copper, cooler and crisper with Antique Silver or Matt Black.

The Senna is made in Ireland from brass and ceramic, and every light is made to order for you. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, and bulbs are sold separately, so you can pick the one that suits the room. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. It is wired in to the mains, so it is for a qualified electrician to install.
