Description

The Senna is a compact ceramic ceiling light: a single cylinder shade in the Blue Earth glaze, set close to the ceiling on a round brass canopy. The glaze is a deep blue with a touch of green, crossed by fine dark lines, so the shade looks more like a piece of pottery than a lampshade. The cylinder is open at its base and sends its light down into the room. It is 23cm tall and 12cm across, and takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately.

The canopy and its short stem come in a choice of finishes: Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Matt Black, Polished Brass, Polished Copper or Satin Brass, and the Blue Earth glaze is the same on every one. Polished Brass and Polished Copper bring warmth and shine against the blue. Antique Brass and Antique Silver give a softer, aged look. Matt Black, painted to RAL 9005, and Satin Brass are the quieter choices. Because it is only 12cm across and sits close to the ceiling, it suits a hallway, a landing, a study or a bedroom with a lower ceiling, where a pendant would hang in the way, and a row of them works well along a corridor. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

The Senna is made from brass and ceramic, and every light is made to order for you in Ireland. It is a Class I fitting, wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase, and bulbs are not covered. When choosing a finish, look at the other metalwork in the room, such as door handles, switch plates or a curtain pole, and match or contrast it with the canopy.
