Description

The Knightsbridge 8-gang screwless grid faceplate is a 148mm square anthracite steel cover plate designed for modular grid switch installations. The plate clips onto a separate GDS003F sub-frame (sold separately), which houses the individual grid modules — switches, sockets, dimmers, data ports or blanks arranged in a 2x4 configuration.

Designed for commercial, hospitality and residential installations where multiple control points or outlets need to be grouped in a single location, the grid system allows electricians to build custom switch layouts without fixed pre-wired assemblies. Common applications include kitchen walls with multiple appliance circuits, AV control panels in home cinema rooms, and hotel room control stations combining lighting, HVAC and socket outlets. The screwless cover removes and re-clips without tools for redecorating or module reconfiguration.

The anthracite finish is a dark charcoal grey with a low-sheen powder-coated surface, providing a contemporary alternative to matt black or polished chrome. The premium-grade steel construction gives the plate structural rigidity and a 3.5mm projection from the wall once fitted. What is the GDS003F sub-frame and do I need one?

The GDS003F is a metal sub-frame that fixes to the wall back box and holds the individual grid modules. The screwless faceplate then clips onto this frame. You need one GDS003F per 8-gang installation — the faceplate will not fit directly to a back box without the sub-frame.

What modules fit this grid system?

Knightsbridge grid modules include switches (1-way, 2-way, intermediate), dimmers, sockets (13A, USB), data outlets (RJ45, coaxial), fused connection units and blank plates. Each module occupies one grid position. An 8-gang plate holds eight modules in a 2x4 arrangement.

Can I remove the faceplate to repaint?

Yes. The screwless cover clips onto the GDS003F frame and can be unclipped, removed for painting, and re-clipped without removing the modules or rewiring.
