Description

This Santa bust figurine shows Father Christmas from the chest up, standing on a fluted pedestal and painted in soft pastel pink with white and gold. His long white beard is sculpted in deep, flowing waves, and his face is gently finished with rosy cheeks and pale brows. His pink hat has a thick white trim textured like fur and a fluffy pompom that hangs to one side, while gold scrollwork runs along the hat band, across his shoulders and down the front of the bust. The pedestal itself is fluted, with a band of gold leaves and beading where it meets its round foot. He stands 30.6cm tall, 16.9cm wide and 13.4cm deep.

At 30.6cm tall he has real presence on a mantelpiece, sideboard, hall table or deep windowsill. The pale pink suits a pastel Christmas scheme, sitting happily beside blush baubles, white feathers and gold candlesticks, and it brings a softer note to a room that usually wears red and green. He is finished all the way round, with the long tail of his hat, his curling hair and a gold-trimmed collar on the back, so he looks good on a table seen from every side as well as against a wall. As a Christmas gift for a home dressed in soft colours, he is a thoughtful choice.

He is freestanding on the broad round foot of his pedestal, so he needs no hook or wall fixing, only a flat, level surface. To keep him fresh, dust him gently with a soft dry cloth, working into the beard and trim, and keep him somewhere dry. When the season ends, wrap him in tissue and store him upright so the pompom and beard stay crisp. We like him at the centre of a mantel with a pale pink and gold garland, or given as a festive gift with a ribbon tied around the pedestal.
