Description
The Sangamo Choice Plus is a 7-day programmable room thermostat with a backlit LCD display, electronic temperature sensor and volt-free 3A switching output. The thermostat allows up to six time/temperature events per day across a seven-day schedule, with each day independently programmable or grouped into 24-hour or 5/2-day patterns. A pre-programmed schedule is loaded on first power-up, allowing immediate use without manual setup.
Designed for controlling heating systems in residential and light commercial applications, the Choice Plus uses TPI (Time Proportional and Integral) control to cycle the boiler on and off in short bursts rather than running continuously until target temperature is reached. This reduces overshoot, improves comfort and lowers gas consumption. Optimum start predicts when to fire the boiler to reach target temperature at the scheduled time, while delayed stop uses residual heat to avoid unnecessary boiler run time.
The black ABS housing measures 166mm wide by 90mm high with a 40mm projection from the wall once mounted. The LCD screen displays current room temperature, set temperature, time, day and mode status simultaneously. Three membrane buttons beneath the screen navigate the menu structure. The thermostat runs on two AA batteries (supplied) with a low-battery indicator on screen, and retains programming during battery replacement. Temperature control range is 5°C to 35°C with adjustable swing settings of 0.5°C or 1°C to fine-tune cycling behaviour. A frost protection mode maintains a minimum 5°C temperature when the schedule is overridden to 'off'.

Frequently Asked
What is TPI control and why does it matter?
TPI (Time Proportional and Integral) cycles the boiler in short on/off bursts to maintain temperature rather than running flat-out until the target is reached. This reduces temperature overshoot, improves comfort and lowers gas consumption compared to basic on/off thermostats.
How many heating periods can be programmed per day?
The Choice Plus allows up to six time/temperature events per day. Each day of the week can be programmed independently, or days can be grouped into a 5/2 (weekday/weekend) or 24-hour pattern to simplify setup.
Does it need mains power or just batteries?
The thermostat runs entirely on two AA batteries (supplied). The LCD shows a low-battery indicator when replacement is needed. Programming is retained during battery changes.
What is optimum start?
Optimum start learns how long the heating system takes to raise room temperature and fires the boiler earlier than the scheduled time so the room reaches target temperature exactly when programmed, rather than starting cold at that time.
