Samaira Leather Counter Stool - Dark Brown

A backless counter stool with a saddle seat in dark brown buffalo leather on four splayed iron legs. The seat is dished across the middle and lifts at the front and the back, and it is stitched once down the centre and once across, so the hide reads as four shallow panels. The legs are round and taper to the floor, and a bar runs between them near the bottom as a footrest. The iron is a dark bronzed brown that sits almost black against the leather.

The seat is 70cm from the floor, which is counter height rather than bar height, and it is 36cm deep. At 44cm across overall, two or three will line up along an island without crowding each other. A pair pulls up to a kitchen island with the seats just clear of the counter above.

The frame is iron and the seat is buffalo leather. The hide is a by-product, dyed with vegetable extract and tree bark, and the colour deepens with time. Each seat is upholstered by hand, so the grain and the depth of the brown differ from one stool to the next.

How high is the seat?

70cm from the floor, which is counter height rather than bar height.

Does it have a back?

No. It is backless, with a dished saddle seat.

Is there a footrest?

Yes. A bar runs between the legs near the bottom.

What leather is it?

Buffalo hide, which is a by-product, dyed with vegetable extract and tree bark rather than a chemical dye.

How is the leather looked after?

Wipe it clean with a soft, dry cloth and keep chemicals and household cleaners off it. To stop the hide drying out and cracking, feed it with a specialist leather product, petroleum jelly or flax oil.
