Description
The Sakti Vase is a slim, rectangular vase with softly rippled edges and a deeply carved pattern across its broad face. Rounded channels fan out from a cross-hatched band near one end, a little like the veins of a leaf or the ribs of a shell, while the narrow end is lined with horizontal ridges. The finish is white with a gold wash worked into the grooves, so the carving reads clearly from across a room. It stands 20cm tall, 27cm long and 9cm wide, with a rectangular opening along the top.
Because it is only 9cm wide, it suits spots where a round vase would crowd the space: a narrow mantelpiece, a deep windowsill, a bookshelf or the back of a console table. Set with the long side facing the room, the pattern does its work, so it looks complete even when empty. A few dried grasses, seed heads or a single branch through the opening make it an easy centrepiece for a hallway or living room. The white and gold palette sits comfortably with warm wood, pale walls and brass accents, and it is just as much at home in a calm bedroom.
The gold is brushed into the recesses and lightly over the raised edges, giving a softly worn look rather than a flat, even coat, and the inside of the opening is left rough and darker in tone. At 2KG it has a good weight for its size, so it sits firmly on a shelf or table. Before choosing a spot, check the shelf is at least 9cm deep with 20cm of clear height above it, and the vase will settle in neatly.
