Sahar Mango Wood Floor Lamp Base - Natural

The Sahar is as plain as a floor lamp base gets: a round disc foot with a softly rounded edge, and a single column rising from it, tapering as it goes so it is widest where it meets the foot and narrowest under the lampholder. The mango wood is left natural and reads pale, almost limed, with the grain and the occasional darker streak showing through. It stands 138cm on a foot 31.5cm across.

Nothing about the shape competes with a shade, which is the point of a base this quiet: the shade is what the eye lands on and the column simply holds it up. At 138cm the lampholder is above the head of anyone seated, so the bulb is out of view from a chair. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, the flex runs 3.5m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Mango is a fast growing hardwood and a by-product of fruit growing. Each column is turned individually, so the taper and the grain vary from one base to the next. How do I care for the wood?

Wipe it with a dry soft cloth. Mango wood can be fed with a natural oil such as olive or walnut on a cloth, which nourishes it but will darken the tone and has to be put back if it is washed off.
