Description
The Rocket D40 is a small in-ground light built to sit flush into a path, step or deck and drop a defined circle of light onto the surface. It is a round aluminium disc about 40mm across with a tempered-glass lens, compact enough to set into a tread or paving while giving a little more spread than the smallest head. Set flush it can be walked over and driven over, reading as a neat pool of neutral 4000K light; unlit, the low ring sits level with the surface and stays discreet.
The LED is built in and draws 2.5W for about 210 lumens through a 20-degree beam, wider than the 28mm head so it covers a slightly broader patch of ground while still reading as a controlled spot rather than a wash. That suits marking steps, edging a path or picking out a low planting bed in a row. Colour is a neutral 4000K with a colour rendering above 90, a cool, modern tone. The 28mm head gives a tighter 10-degree pinpoint, and the larger steel heads step up in output for stronger accents on the same run.
The body is aluminium with a tempered-glass lens, rated IP67 for full burial in wet ground and rated to be walked on, so it handles rain, standing water and foot traffic. The LED is fixed and rated to 35,000 hours, with nothing to fit or replace. It runs on 3V DC from a remote driver, which is not included and is ordered to match the run, so we supply the fitting and can add the correct driver alongside.

Frequently Asked
What kind of light does the Rocket D40 give?
A defined circle of light. The built-in 2.5W LED gives about 210 lumens through a 20-degree beam, wider than the 28mm head, so it covers a slightly broader patch while still reading as a controlled spot for a step, path or bed edge.
How does it compare with the 28mm and larger heads?
It sits in the middle. The 28mm head gives a tight 10-degree pinpoint at 120 lumens; this 40mm head opens to 20 degrees at 210 lumens; and the 55mm and 104mm steel heads step up further in size and output for stronger accents.
Is it suitable for full outdoor exposure?
Yes. It is rated IP67 in aluminium with a tempered-glass lens, so it withstands rain and standing water and can be buried in the ground. It is rated to be walked on once installed.
Does it need a separate driver?
Yes. It runs on 3V DC from a remote driver that is not included, ordered to suit the run. We can supply the matching driver alongside the light. The LED is built in and non-replaceable, rated to 35,000 hours.
