Description

The Rocio is a slim pendant light made of two simple shapes: a matt black cylindrical tube and a round ball of ash wood resting on top of it. The structure is brass, finished in matt black, and the wooden ball brings warm natural grain to the dark metal. It hangs from a textile cable to a round ceiling canopy. The fitting is 20cm tall, with a 6cm shade, an 8cm canopy and a 1.5m cable. It takes one GU10 lamp. Lamps are not included, so you choose the bulb yourself; a warm white GU10 sits well with the wood.

Its small size makes it an easy pendant to place. One works well over a bedside table in place of a table lamp, above a desk in a study, or in a hallway or on a landing where a large shade would crowd the space. Hung as a pair or a row of three over a dining table, the tubes read as a neat, repeating line. The look is modern with a Scandinavian lean, so it sits comfortably with pale timber, linen and plain painted walls, and the black finish gives it enough contrast to hold its own against lighter schemes. It is rated IP20, which means it is for dry rooms only.

The brass structure carries the matt black finish, the ash wood ball shows its natural grain, and the textile cable completes the look. It is an on-off switched fitting for 220-240V mains, and as a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install. It carries a 2 year guarantee. For styling, we like it against warm, earthy wall colours, where the black tube and pale wood stand out cleanly, and alongside other natural timber in the room, such as a wooden table or chair, so the ash ball picks up the same warmth.
