Description
Rocca is a frameless wall mirror 175cm high by 64cm wide, cut to the outline of a standing stone. The reference is a menhir in northern France, and the way it is done is worth knowing: a three dimensional object has been translated into a flat image, with a screen printed pattern carrying the depth and the shadow that the stone would have. The result is a flat pane that reads as a solid block. The outline is cut by waterjet, which is what allows the rugged edge rather than a smooth curve.
At 175cm it stands nearly full height, so it works in a hallway, a living room or a bedroom as a piece rather than as a dressing mirror. The printed shading is graded from dark at the base towards clear at the top, so it reflects more the higher up it goes, and it wants a wall where that gradient is visible rather than a corner. It is rated bathroom proof. It hangs in one direction, since the shading has a top and a bottom. At 14kg and 2.5cm deep it is a comfortable one person lift and sits close to the wall, with two screws, washers and plugs supplied and nothing to assemble.
The mirror is printed and mirrored glass with no frame. Clean it with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth rather than onto the glass, and wipe with the grain of the printed shading rather than across it. The waterjet edge is left unpolished on the outline, so run a cloth along it rather than pressing into it. Seven year warranty, made in Europe.

Frequently Asked
What is the shape based on?
A menhir, or standing stone, in northern France. The outline is cut by waterjet to keep its rugged profile.
Is the stone texture real?
No. It is screen printed onto the glass to carry the depth and shadow of a solid block.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
Yes. It is rated bathroom proof, so steam and humidity are not a problem.
Does it reflect all over?
The shading is graded, so it reflects more towards the top and less towards the darker base.
What size is it and what does it weigh?
64cm wide by 175cm high, weighing 14kg.
