Description
This crackle glass light-up decoration brings a little robin to the Christmas table, perched among sprigs of holly and bright red berries on a branch that curls around the glass. The robin's red breast, brown wings and soft white and lilac underside are painted across the front, while the crackled surface gives the clear glass a frosty look. Around the base the glass turns a frosted white, like a drift of snow. When it is lit, the LEDs inside shine through the glass, so every crack catches the light. It stands 13cm tall, 16cm wide and 14cm deep, a rounded dome with a flat foot.
It is sized for a mantelpiece, an indoor windowsill, a sideboard or a hall table, and sits happily among cards and greenery on a dresser shelf. Because it runs on batteries, it needs no plug socket nearby, so you can set it wherever a corner of the room wants a soft light through the long December evenings. It is a light for dry rooms indoors, away from damp. As a Christmas gift it is easy to wrap, and it soon becomes the decoration that comes out of the box first each year.
The body is glass, finished with the crackle effect, the painted robin, holly and berries, and a frosted white band at the foot. It takes three AA batteries, which are not included, so keep a set to hand before you unpack it for the season. Dust it with a soft dry cloth, and if it needs more, wipe the glass gently with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry before lighting it again. Wrap it in tissue when the decorations go back in the loft. We like it at the centre of a festive table beside a sprig of real holly.
