Description

This square dinosaur keepsake box gives a little one's first treasures a home of their own. The white lid carries a soft pastel print of a smiling peach dinosaur, a pink flying dinosaur, leafy fronds and a slender palm tree, with the words "ROAR BIG LIKE A MIGHTY DINOSAUR" spelled out in playful multicoloured lettering across the middle. Beneath the lid sits a natural wood-effect base, and a yellow tassel on a round bead hangs from its front edge. The box is made from MDF and measures 8cm high, 15.6cm wide and 15.4cm deep, a tidy size for a shelf or the top of a chest of drawers.

We think it makes a thoughtful gift for parents welcoming a baby, and a lovely place to gather the small things from those first three years: a hospital bracelet, a first lock of hair, a folded card from family, a tiny pair of socks. The gentle pastel palette sits happily in a nursery, on a bookshelf in a little one's bedroom or beside a changing table, and the cheerful message makes it as much a decoration as somewhere to store things. It is a keepsake for grown-ups to fill and look after rather than something for a child to play with, so give it a spot where it can stay on show for years.

The lid lifts on two small hinges at the back, using the tassel at the front as a pull. Inside, the underside of the lid is white and the interior is plain, unlined MDF, so small keepsakes sit neatly and are easy to lift out. Dust it with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from water and damp, as with any MDF piece. For a gift, tuck a first photograph or a handwritten note inside before you wrap it, so the box arrives with its first memory already in place.
