The Rizzo is a small rechargeable table lamp: a thick round cap of natural alabaster set on a slim cylindrical base in wenge, a very dark brown, wrapped in fine ribs that twist around it in a spiral. The integrated LED needs no bulb and gives 250 lumens of warm 3000K light from 2.2W. That light spreads all the way round through the white stone, and with a CRI of 90 or more, wood, fabric and skin tones look true beneath it. It stands 16cm tall in all, on a base 11cm high and 8cm across, under a 9cm shade.

Because it runs on its own battery, it goes wherever a cable will not reach: the middle of a dining table, a bedside, a bookshelf, a hall console or a desk. One charge gives six hours of light, and a push button on the base dims it, so you can keep it low through a long dinner or turn it up beside a chair. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only. At this size it is an accent light rather than a main light, and it suits anyone who wants a soft glow they can carry from room to room in the evening.

The base is made from recycled wood and PLA, and its spiral ribs give a textured, tactile surface against the smooth, cloudy alabaster above it. The lamp runs at 3.7V and charges by USB Type-C. It comes with its USB Type-C charging cable; the plug is not included. It carries a 3 year guarantee. For styling, the dark wenge sits well beside oak, walnut and pale linen, and we like a pair along a sideboard or a single one on a stack of books by the sofa.
