Description
The Ribble cushion is made from pure cotton that has been acid stonewashed to give it a soft, lived-in feel from the very first use. It is a rectangular bolster shape, measuring 40 x 60cm, with a subtly ribbed surface texture that catches the light across its grid of fine woven lines. The face shown here is a muted ink blue, worn in a way that lets a paler grey-blue show through the weave, so no two areas read exactly the same. It is a plain cushion with no print to fight, which is the point of it.
A bolster of this length sits well along the back of a sofa or across the head of a bed, where it bridges the gap behind a pair of square scatter cushions or softens a headboard. Because the colour is quiet and the surface has movement rather than pattern, it works with linen, with neutral walls and with other washed cottons in the same tonal family. It suits a relaxed, unfussy room rather than a formal one, and it earns its place by feel as much as by looks.
The cover is reversible, so you can turn it over for a slightly different depth of the same ink tone, and it is finished with a twin-stitched piped edge that frames the shape and holds it square. A hidden zip runs along one long side, shown in the photographs, so the cover comes off cleanly for washing and goes back on without a visible fastening. Being pure cotton, it is a natural fibre that washes and wears comfortably and can be expected to soften further with use. It belongs to our wider Ribble range, which carries the same washed ribbed cotton across a set of subtle earth tones.

Frequently Asked
What is this cushion made from?
It is made from 100% cotton that has been acid stonewashed, which is a natural fibre giving it a soft handle and a gently faded, lived-in appearance.
What size is the Ribble cushion?
It measures 40 x 60cm, which is a rectangular bolster shape rather than a square, so it suits lying along a sofa back or across a bed.
Can I remove the cover?
Yes, there is a hidden zip along one long edge, shown in the photographs, so the cover comes off cleanly and goes back on without a visible fastening.
Is it really reversible?
Yes, the design is reversible, so you can turn the cushion over and use either face, both in the same washed ink tone.
Does it come with a pad or just the cover?
The record lists this as a cushion; please check the product page for whether a filling pad is included before ordering.
