Description

The Rex is a curved half-cylinder for an outside wall with two slot openings cut across its face, one bowing up and one bowing down. Lit after dark it shows as two bright curved bands on the fitting itself, backed with white acrylic, while light also spills from the top rim and bottom lip to wash the wall above and below. By day the pair of slots reads as a graphic detail on a rounded block, 250mm wide and 130mm proud.

This is the black version, a die-cast aluminium body that sits back against brick, render or a dark facade so the lit slots and the twin wash carry the effect. It takes a standard E27 bulb, so the brightness and warmth are set by the lamp you fit, which makes it easy to match a warm doorway or a cooler modern wall. Its patterned face suits a porch, a garden wall, a patio or a run spaced along a boundary.

The body is powder-coated die-cast aluminium with white acrylic behind two curved slot apertures and along the edges, and it is rated IP54 against dust and splashing water for outdoor use. It accepts one E27 bulb up to 60W, which is not included, so you can fit an LED lamp at your preferred colour temperature. It wires straight to the mains.

What kind of light does the Rex give?

Two glowing curved slots on the face plus a wash up and down the wall from the top and bottom edges. The slot apertures make it more of a lit graphic than the plain closed version, so the fitting itself shows a pattern of light.

Does it take a bulb or is one included?

It takes one standard E27 bulb up to 60W, and a bulb is not included. You can fit an LED lamp at the output you want, from a warm 2700K glow to a crisper 4000K white, and the slots pick up whatever colour you choose.

Is it suitable for outdoors?

Yes. It is rated IP54, sealed against dust and splashing water, so it suits a porch, a garden wall or a patio. As with any outdoor fitting it should be wired by a qualified electrician.

How big is it and where does it suit?

It measures 250mm wide, 120mm tall and 130mm off the wall. The lit slots and up and down wash suit a front door, a garden wall, a patio or a row along a boundary, where a little pattern is wanted alongside the light.
