Description

The Renata is a bell dome pendant light in matt white: one smooth aluminium dome that hangs from a textile cable and sends its light down and out across the space beneath it. It is 28cm tall and 36cm across, a generous size that holds its own over a table without crowding it. Where the cable meets the dome, a short white neck is ringed with a slim gold-coloured band, the one bright accent on an otherwise quiet, clean shape. Inside sits one E27 lamp holder, the common large screw cap, so you choose the bulb and the colour of light. Lamps are not included, so buy an E27 bulb alongside it.

We like it most over a dining table, where the open dome keeps the light on the table and out of people's eyes, and it works just as well hung on its own in a hallway, on a landing or beside a bed. Its modern, Scandinavian lines sit happily with pale wood, linen and plain painted walls, and the matt white finish lets it settle quietly against a white ceiling. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It is switched on and off rather than dimmed, which suits a room where you want clear, steady light at the flick of a switch.
