Ratnam Faceted Glass Baubles - Mixed Merlot - Set of 4

A set of four glass drops, each 6cm long, cut into flat facets that run from a broad shoulder under the cap down to a point at the bottom, in the manner of a cut stone. Two of the four are a clear, deep wine red that the light passes straight through. The other two are brighter, closer to a raspberry, and mottled inside with a silvered speckle that stops the light halfway. A dark metal cap and ring close the top, and a length of oatmeal velvet ribbon is knotted through the ring.

These are small drops and they hang long, so they read best where there is space under them: the tip of a branch, the outer edge of a wreath, the lower half of a tree where a round bauble would sit flat against the needles. Hung at slightly different heights the facets take the light from different sides. Four is enough to run down one side of a tree rather than to dress the whole of it.

The glass is recycled and each drop is blown by hand into the faceted form, so no two hold the colour in quite the same way and the depth of the merlot shifts from one to the next. The cap and the ring are metal and the tie is velvet ribbon. The Ratnam range also runs in a mixed antique pink, in a set of eight in the same merlot, and in single giant baubles in both colours.

Are all four the same?

No. Two are a clear deep wine red and two are a brighter, speckled pink.

What are they made from?

Recycled glass, blown by hand, with a metal cap and ring at the top.

How do they hang?

On a length of oatmeal velvet ribbon knotted through the ring at the top.

How do I look after them?

Wipe any dust away with a dry, soft cloth, handle them with care, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish. They are for indoor use only.
